The Director of Animal Protection and Control is responsible for providing strategic direction, overall management and tactical animal control leadership for Larimer Humane Society. Directs the enforcement of county and municipality ordinances and state statutes relating to animal welfare and public safety. Develops and implements policies, programs and services related to Animal Control for contractual jurisdictions and ensures Organizational compliance. Develops programs and activities to promote responsible pet ownership consistent with the values and mission of Larimer Humane Society. Serves as a field officer on occasion as needed.

RMC Health is a Colorado-based nonprofit that develops and supports highly skilled professionals who can create sustained policy, system, and environmental changes. RMC Health is a national leader in providing learning, facilitation, technical assistance, resources, and best practices to increase health equity and advance the health of children, youth, their families, and their communities. RMC Health supports local, state, and federal health departments, youth serving organizations, and K12 school systems throughout the country. RMC Health’s current project portfolio includes: substance abuse prevention; K12 healthy schools; risk and protective factors for youth; tobacco and marijuana prevention and education; coalition building for local public health and school communities; and health and wellness policy review.

As part of the tobacco prevention and education portfolio, RMC Health provides statewide training and technical assistance to create and maintain comprehensive tobacco free schools policies and environments. RMC Health trains local public health agencies, youth serving organizations, and school staff to address the issues of vaping and the dual use of tobacco and marijuana by youth. Additionally, RMC Health maintains Second Chance: a free, web-based, interactive, and self-directed alternative to suspension education program for youth who have violated a tobacco policy at school, including the use of electronic nicotine products, or tobacco law in the community. The program may also be helpful for youth who may be experimenting with tobacco or other nicotine products.

The Second Chance Program Manager will be responsible for the life cycle of the Second Chance program for school and community level implementation, from goal setting and operational planning, to recruitment and technical assistance, to evaluation support and reporting. Recruitment includes direct solicitation of school districts, schools, youth serving organizations and juvenile justice programs; promoting the program at conferences and other venues; and following up on leads. The Program Manager will assist school districts, schools, youth serving organizations and juvenile justice programs through the enrollment process, encourage student completion, and monitor student completion rates. The program manager may also provide technical assistance to individual schools who need support integrating Second Chance into their existing responses to in-school tobacco infractions. Finally, the Program Manager is responsible for maintaining data and enrollment logs.
